Coking coal

Kestrel Mine produces a low ash, high volatile hard coking coal which is supplied to many international steel mills, particularly those in Japan, Korea and Taiwan.

With its low ash, high fluidity, low phosphorus contents and high level of reactive macerals, Kestrel coking coal has demonstrated its value as a key blend component in the production of high quality coke.. The properties make it ideal for blending with increased proportions of lower quality coking coals, while contributing to low coke oven wall pressure.

The Kestrel Mine's transport needs are serviced by the reliable, modern infrastructure in the form of Queensland Rail's network and the Central Queensland Ports Authority RG Tanna Coal Terminal in Gladstone.
